Running an old version is the cause of a surprising number of problems people report: notifications that stop arriving, uploads that fail, screens that look wrong. The fix is almost always the same. Turn automatic updates on once, and stop thinking about it.
This works the same way for coaches and for clients. You each update on your own device, and updating yours does not update anyone else's.
Turn on automatic updates
iPhone and iPad. Settings, then App Store, then turn on App Updates under Automatic Downloads.
Android. Open the Play Store, tap your profile icon, then Settings, Network preferences, Auto-update apps. Choose Over Wi-Fi only unless you would rather it use cellular data.
Once it is on, updates arrive in the background and you do not need to check for them. On Android, the choice you make above decides whether that happens over Wi-Fi only or over cellular data as well.
Update by hand
You can also update on demand. That is the quicker route when you are troubleshooting something now rather than waiting for the background update to reach you.
iPhone and iPad. Open the App Store, tap your profile icon, scroll to the pending updates, and tap Update next to Workout Titan.
Android. Open the Play Store, tap your profile icon, then Manage apps & device, then Updates available.
If Workout Titan is not in the list, you are already on the latest version. That is the whole check: an app with no update waiting is up to date. If it is in the list, update it and let the install finish before you open it.
When an update will not install
- Check your storage. An update needs room for both the old and new version while it installs, so "enough space for the app" is not enough space.
- Restart the device. This clears most stuck downloads.
- Check the update is not waiting on Wi-Fi. If you set auto-update to Wi-Fi only, nothing happens on cellular data.
- Check your OS version. A new release sometimes requires a newer operating system than the one you are on, and the store will simply not offer it rather than telling you why.
What happens to your data
Reinstalling is a last resort rather than a first step, but it is safe. Your account lives on our servers, not on the device, so signing back in restores your clients, workouts, videos and history.
The same is true of an ordinary update. It replaces the app on your device and leaves your account where it is, so there is nothing to back up beforehand and nothing to set up again afterward.
If the problem is still there
If you are on the latest version and something still is not working, the version is not the cause. Notifications are the common example. They have to be turned on in your device settings as well as inside Workout Titan, and "Staying connected with app notifications" covers both.
