Recommended video settings for uploads

Get faster processing and smoother playback for your clients by using the right video format. Follow the recommendations in this article for the best results.

Tópicos: Videos

Uploading videos to Workout Titan works a bit differently than platforms like TikTok or Instagram. A stable internet connection is recommended, and uploads may take a moment to fully process. Using the right video format ensures faster processing and smoother playback for your clients. Follow the recommendations in this article for the best experience.

Recommended Format

For the best overall compatibility, we recommend the following settings when exporting your videos:

  • File type (container): MP4 (preferred) or MOV
  • Video codec: H.264
  • Audio codec: AAC

These settings work consistently across iOS, Android, and web browsers, and typically process faster than HEVC/H.265 or other "pro" formats. When in doubt, MP4 with H.264 is the safest bet.

Resolution and Aspect Ratio

Workout Titan supports uploads up to 4K, but 1080p is often the sweet spot between quality and file size.

  • Recommended resolution: 1080p (1920×1080)
  • Optional (larger files): 4K (3840×2160)
  • Aspect ratio:
    • 16:9 (landscape) ideal for most coaching and instructional videos
    • 9:16 (portrait) best if you're filming primarily for mobile viewing, such as Reels or TikTok-style content. A common export size is 1080×1920.

Frame Rate (FPS)

  • Recommended: 30 FPS or 60 FPS
  • Avoid if possible: Variable frame rate exports, which can occasionally cause audio sync issues during processing

Sticking with a constant frame rate ensures your audio and video stay perfectly in sync from start to finish.

Colour and Dynamic Range (HDR vs SDR)

  • Recommended: SDR (Standard Dynamic Range)

Some devices (especially iPhones) record in HDR by default. HDR uploads are more likely to fail processing or display colours incorrectly on certain screens.

If you're seeing failed uploads or unusual colours, try:

  • Disabling HDR in your camera settings, or
  • Exporting your final video as SDR / Rec.709 from your editor

File Size Limit

  • Maximum: 500 MB per video

If your export exceeds 500 MB, you can bring it down by:

  • Exporting at 1080p instead of 4K, or
  • Reducing the bitrate in your editor

Connection Tips

  • Upload over reliable Wi-Fi whenever possible. This helps avoid interruptions and speeds up the process.
  • Be patient after the progress bar hits 100%. Processing can still take a few minutes. You'll see a "Processing" status until the video is ready to go.

Uploading via Basecamp (Web)

Coaches can also upload and manage videos through Basecamp, our web platform built for coaches. This is especially handy when you:

  • Are working from a laptop or desktop
  • Want to drag-and-drop multiple files at once
  • Need to review and organize your entire video library in one place

Troubleshooting

Upload Stuck or Paused

  • Keep the app open if you can.
  • If your connection drops, the upload should resume automatically once you're back online.

Video Disappears After Upload

This usually means the file didn't pass the processing service's checks. Common causes include a corrupt file, an unsupported export format, or HDR encoding.

Quick fix: Re-export your video as MP4 + H.264 + AAC in SDR, then upload again. This resolves the issue in most cases.
