Open a client and Basecamp gives you everything about them at once, rather than the sequence of screens the phone has to use. This is the best place to do the thinking work: reviewing where somebody is, adjusting what they can do, and writing down what you noticed.
Notes
A free-text field for the context that does not fit anywhere else: how somebody responds to volume, what happened last block, what to ask about next time.
It carries an explicit limit: notes must not contain personal or private information. Coaching notes drift naturally towards health details, and that is the drift to resist. "Prefers upper body first" belongs here. A diagnosis does not.
Notes are also a filter on the client grid. Filtering by has notes narrows it to the people you have written about. That works far better if you use notes deliberately rather than on everybody.
Preferences
The same switches as Workout Titan Coaching, chief among them nutrition logging, which enables detailed meal and calorie tracking. Turning it off stops the client logging food at all, which is different from them choosing not to share it with you.
Forms
Which forms this client has, assignable from here. On a wide screen this is much quicker than on the phone. You can see who has what and fix it in one pass rather than client by client.
What you cannot change
Their email is shown but not editable, and the hint says why: only the client can update their email. Same for their name. Those two fields are their identity and their way back into the account, so they stay theirs.
If a client has lost access to an email address, they change it themselves in their own Manage account. There is no coach-side override, and that is deliberate rather than missing.
A weekly pass
The client panel rewards being used properly once a week rather than glanced at daily. Read their updates, look at the week of nutrition, check the habit heatmap, then write the next block and update your notes while it is all still in front of you.
If a client will not load you are told plainly rather than shown an empty panel. Refresh, and check your connection.
