Copying a workout to another client

Copy a workout, move to another client, paste. The clipboard holds one workout for 15 minutes, and a copied workout still needs adjusting to the person receiving it.

Topics: Workouts & exercises

Workouts belong to one client, so running the same workout with several people means copying it across. It takes seconds and saves rebuilding an exercise list from scratch.

Copy and paste

1. Open the workout you want and copy it. Workout Titan Coaching confirms by name: "Push A" copied to clipboard.

2. Go to the other client's programme.

3. Paste workout. You get "Workout pasted" and it appears in their list with its exercises.

Pasting creates a copy. The original stays in the first client's programme, and the pasted workout belongs to the second client from then on.

15 minutes, one workout

The clipboard holds a single workout and expires after 15 minutes. A countdown shows how long is left.

Leave it too long and Coaching tells you the copied workout has expired, and asks you to copy it again before pasting. Nothing is lost, and the original is untouched. Paste with nothing copied and you are told to copy a workout first, rather than the paste failing quietly.

Because it holds one at a time, sending the same workout to 6 clients means 6 copy-and-paste round trips, not one copy and 6 pastes. Work through them in one sitting.

A whole programme crosses the same way, one workout at a time.

The copy is a starting point

It arrives with the loads, rep targets and notes you wrote for somebody else. Those were chosen for a particular person, and they cross over unchanged.

Go through the pasted workout and check the weights, the rep ranges, and anything in the notes that referred to the original client's situation. The exercise list is what carries across intact. The numbers came from another client's history.

The name comes across too. Rename it if it referred to the other client, or to a block they were in and this client is not.

Copying does not link the two workouts. Editing the original later leaves any copy you have already pasted as it was, so a correction has to be made in each client's programme separately.

Copying within one client

The same mechanism duplicates a workout inside one programme. That is useful when the next block is the last block with the loads moved on. Copy it, paste it into the same client, rename it, and edit from there.

Two apps, one focus: fitness done properly. Coaching gives trainers powerful programmes, live progress and instant adjustments. Nutrition turns your camera into a food log. Scan a pack, a label or your meal and the numbers are done.
