Logging food

Searching for a food and logging it

Type a food name or a barcode, read the source and confidence on each result, set the serving, and log it. The most common way to add anything to your day.

Topics: Logging food

Search is the way you will log most things in Workout Titan Nutrition. It takes a food name or a barcode number, checks several sources in turn, and hands you a list to pick from.

Logging a food

1. Tap Add to on the meal you want.

2. Type the food name, or the barcode number if you have the package in front of you.

3. Tap Search. You can watch which sources are checked as it goes.

4. Tap a result to open it. Check the serving, change it if it is wrong, and tap Log this food.

You will see "Meal logged" and the food appears on the meal card.

Reading a result before you tap it

Each result carries its calories, a typical serving, and a badge saying where the figures came from. The sources are worth knowing apart:

  • Saved foods: something you have logged or corrected before. The most reliable, because it is your own.
  • Open Food Facts: a public product database. Good for packaged goods with barcodes, patchy for anything loose or homemade.
  • AI estimate: an estimate worked out from what the model knows about the food. Useful for a rough figure, and weakest on portion size.
  • Logged before: pulled from your own history.

Alongside the source you may see a confidence line: high confidence means the sources were cross-checked and agreed, low confidence means they disagreed. Two warnings are worth stopping for. "Serving unclear" means the sources disagreed about how big a serving is, so check the amount. "AI and the web returned different figures for this food" means treat the numbers as a rough guide.

The product panel

Tapping a result opens a panel with two tabs. The Log tab holds the serving size, the meal it will go to, and the calories as a percentage of your daily total. The Nutrition tab holds the full breakdown per serving: carbohydrate, protein, fat, saturated fat, sugar, fiber and salt.

If the figures are wrong, Edit nutritional values lets you correct them before logging. Your changes affect only your own log.

Hiding a result you never want

Some searches return an entry that is plainly not what you meant and keeps coming back. Hide this result removes it from that search term for good, so the same query gets cleaner the more you use it.

Two limits to know about

Search too fast and you will see "Too many searches. Please wait a moment and try again." That is a short pause, not a quota, and it clears on its own.

Separately, a Free account has 5 food lookups in total. Logging something from your saved foods or your cookbook does not spend one. Only a fresh lookup does.
