Sharing is a switch you own, and you can use it at any time without asking anyone. It is worth understanding what moves with it before you do, because it changes more than one thing at once.
Turning it off
1. Open Manage account, then Coaching.
2. Turn off Share nutrition with coach.
3. Read the confirmation and choose Stop sharing.
The confirmation spells out the consequences rather than asking a bare "are you sure", and it says more when Pro is involved. It takes effect immediately.
What you get back
- Your coach stops seeing anything you log: no food logs, no weight, no end-of-day notes.
- Your calorie and macro goals become editable again.
- Weight logging returns if your coach had turned it off.
What you lose
If your coach's plan was covering Pro for you, that ends with the sharing. Photo scans and food lookups go back to the free allowance of 5 of each in total, and any you have already used do not come back. The confirmation dialogue mentions this separately, because it is the part people miss.
You also lose the thing the arrangement is for. Your coach cannot adjust what they cannot see, so your targets stop being tuned to your actual weeks.
Your data is not deleted
Nothing you have logged disappears. Your history, charts, cookbook and week view all carry on exactly as before. The switch changes who can see new entries, not whether they exist. The app remains a complete food diary with sharing off.
Turning it back on
The same switch, with its own confirmation: from that point, new nutrition logs, weight entries and end-of-day notes become visible to your coach again.
Everything from while you were disconnected stays private. Not hidden by default, not available on request: it is never shared retroactively. You can turn sharing off for a month and back on afterwards, and that month remains yours.
When it is the right call
A holiday you would rather not have analysed, a stretch where being watched is making things worse, or simply the end of a coaching arrangement. All reasonable, and none of them require an explanation.
One case where it is the wrong tool: disagreeing with a macro target. Turning sharing off to edit a number costs you your coach's visibility and probably your Pro access, to work around a decision that would be better discussed. Talk to them first.
If the switch will not move
An archived coaching account cannot turn sharing on. No data is shared and only your coach can restore access. If a change fails to save you will see "Couldn't update coaching setting". Nothing is half-applied, so try again once you have a connection.
This is not the same as deleting your account
Turning sharing off stops the flow of data to your coach and nothing more. Your account, your history and the app itself are untouched, and you can reverse it in two taps.
