If you are connected to a coach and nutrition sharing is on, some of the settings in Preferences stop being yours. The app tells you rather than silently ignoring your edits. A note reading "Managed by your coach" appears wherever this applies.
What your coach controls
- Your calorie and macro goals. They set them, and you cannot edit them while sharing is on.
- Whether you can log your weight. They can turn weight logging off entirely, and the Weight entry appears disabled with an explanation.
What stays yours
Everything else. Your hydration goal, your fasting, your reminders, your cookbook, what you log and when: none of it is managed by anyone but you. Your coach setting your macros does not give them a say over the rest of the app.
Why weight logging can be switched off
This is a coaching decision, not a restriction for its own sake. Weighing in daily suits some people and not others, and your coach can take the scale out of the picture. If it has been turned off and you would rather it were not, the app's own advice is the right one: ask them.
The message you see says the same: ask your coach to turn it back on, or turn nutrition sharing off in Manage account.
Taking the settings back
One switch does it: turn nutrition sharing off in Manage account, under Coaching. Your goals become editable again immediately and weight logging returns.
It is worth knowing what else goes with it, because the switch does more than unlock two fields:
- Your coach stops seeing anything you log: food, weight and end-of-day notes.
- If their plan was covering Pro for you, that ends too, and you go back to the free allowance of photo scans and food lookups.
- Turning it back on later shares only what you log from that point. Nothing from the gap is ever shared retroactively.
If your account is archived
A separate state, and not something you set. An archived coaching account shares no nutrition data and cannot be unarchived from inside Nutrition. Your coach has to restore access.
Disagreeing with the numbers
Talk to your coach before reaching for the switch. Turning sharing off to edit a macro target solves the wrong problem: it costs you their visibility of your week, and probably your Pro access, to change a number they set for a reason. If the target is not working for you, that is a conversation, not a setting.
