Tracking & trends

  • End-of-day notes and ratingsClose a day with a rating of how it went and a short note. It is the one place in the app for the things a calorie count cannot record, and the part a coach reads first.
  • Fasting: plans, stages and safetyPlans from 12 to 20 hours with a live countdown. Read the safety list first, because Nutrition requires it, and treat the stage timings as averages rather than a reading of your body.
  • Logging hydration, including caffeinated drinksFour presets or a custom amount, with a flag for anything caffeinated. Every log adds to that day's total, and the chart holds six months.
  • Logging your weightLog in kilograms, pounds, or stone and pounds. Everything is charted in kilograms over six months, and your latest entry becomes the current weight your calorie estimate uses.

Reading the week view

Seven days at once, per nutrient, against your goals. What the GOAL, FOOD and LEFT columns mean, why some days are grey, and why exercise calories are always zero.

Topics: Tracking & trends

The day screen answers "how am I doing today". The week view answers the more useful question, which is what the last seven days actually look like. Open it from the More menu, or from the week strip at the top of the day screen.

One nutrient at a time

Tabs across the top switch what the week is showing: Calories, Hydration, Carbs, Protein, Fat, Sat fat, Sugar, Fibre and Salt. Each one redraws the same seven days against that nutrient's goal, so you can check protein across the week without wading through everything else.

The four columns

Each day is broken into a short row of figures:

  • GOAL: your target for that day.
  • -FOOD: what you logged, taken off the goal.
  • +EXER: exercise calories, added back.
  • =LEFT: what remains.

The exercise column is always zero, and the screen says why: exercise calories are not tracked yet. It is shown because the arithmetic reads correctly with it there, not because something is broken on your account.

Why some days are grey

Future days and days with nothing logged show in grey, and they are left out of the weekly Total. This is the detail most worth understanding, because it changes how you read the summary.

It means a day you forgot to log is not counted as a day you ate nothing. The average per day is an average of the days you actually logged, so three logged days out of seven give you an average of three days, not a week diluted by four zeroes. The summary tells you how many days were logged for exactly this reason. Read that number before you read the average.

The summary line

Three things: how many of the seven days you logged, your average per day, and the total still left across the week. On a weekly calorie goal the last of these is the one that matters. It is the number that tells you what Sunday can look like.

The trend chart

Below the days, your daily intake as a percentage of your goals. Swipe the chart to compare days, and use the arrows to change week. It also shows your average as a percentage of your calorie goal, which is a fairer measure of a week than any single day. A day above or below a goal is information about that day, not a verdict on the week.

With no goals set the chart tells you so and points at Preferences. There is nothing to compare against until you set one.

Mood ratings on the strip

If you have posted an end-of-day check-in, its rating appears on that day. A day with a rating but no food shows as check-in only. Read alongside the numbers, this is where patterns surface: the days that felt hardest are not always the days with the highest numbers.

Jumping to a day

Tap any day in the week view to open it on the day screen, ready to add what you missed. Coming from the week view is usually the quickest way to fill in a gap, because the grey days show you exactly where the gaps are.

Workout Titan

Two apps, one focus: fitness done properly. Coaching gives trainers powerful programmes, live progress and instant adjustments. Nutrition turns your camera into a food log. Scan a pack, a label or your meal and the numbers are done.
