Gyms often have poor signal. Workout Titan Coaching keeps working when you lose it, so nothing you log is lost.
What you've already opened stays on your phone. What you log is kept until it can be sent. The app always tells you when you're offline.
How you know you're offline
A small label appears above the tab bar saying "You're offline" and "Showing what was last loaded". It disappears once you're back online. Everything else looks the same: the same screens and the same buttons.
What you can still read
Anything you've opened recently while online. For a client, that means your workouts and their exercises, the sets and notes on each one, your habits, your weight and measurement history, your messages and your notifications. For a coach, it's the same, plus your client list with their figures, your video list and each client's folders.
The app keeps a copy of what it last loaded for about a week, so a programme you looked at on Monday is still there on Friday. A screen you've never opened on this phone has nothing saved. It shows "Couldn't load this" with a retry button, rather than looking empty.
Videos stream, so they need a connection to play. You'll still see their thumbnails and titles.
What you can still log
The things you do during a workout work without signal:
- Posting an update on an exercise, with sets or notes, including marking it complete.
- Logging your weight. Coaches can also log a client's weight or measurements.
- Ticking off a habit for the day.
- Sending a message.
When you save one of these offline, the confirmation says "Saved on this device" instead of the usual message. The app keeps the change on your phone and sends it as soon as you're back online. If you close the app first, it sends it the next time you open it.
The change keeps the time you logged it, not the time it was sent, so an update posted at 7am still shows 7am. Your coach or client gets one notification when it arrives, however long it waited.
What needs a connection
Anything that changes a programme, rather than logging against it, needs a connection. That includes:
- building, editing or reordering workouts, exercises and folders
- forms, and inviting or archiving a client
- uploading a video or deleting anything
- replying to or liking an update
- account and notification settings
If you try one of these offline, the app tells you it needs a connection, so nothing is lost or half-saved.
Search, loading more of a long list and seeing whether someone is online also need a connection. Live updates from the other person pause and catch up when you're back online.
If a change didn't sync
Very occasionally, a change saved offline is refused when it's sent. For example, your coach may have archived you in the meantime. If this happens, the app shows an alert saying a change didn't sync. Open the screen it belonged to and log it again. The app doesn't retry it in the background.
Before you go somewhere with no signal
Open the app while you still have a connection and look at the workout you're about to do. It's then saved on your phone. Signing out clears everything saved on your phone, so stay signed in.
