When a client connects Apple Health or Health Connect, their daily step count syncs into Workout Titan Coaching. This article covers where you see it, how to set a daily target, and how to hide steps from a client who'd rather not see them.
What your client needs to do
Steps only appear once your client connects their health app. They do it themselves, from their Home screen or under 'Manage account' > 'Connected apps'. You can't connect it for them, because only their phone can read their health data. Point them to Connecting Apple Health or Health Connect if they need a hand.
Their phone syncs each time they open the app, and refreshes the last 14 days each time. If a client hasn't opened the app for a while, their latest days won't be there yet.
Where you see steps
- The client card has a Steps tile with the last week as small bars, today highlighted.
- The Steps screen has the full history: a chart you can swipe back through, a headline for today with the 7-day average, and a row for each synced day. Open it from the client's menu under 'Steps'.
If the screen is empty, it tells you which of two things is going on: your client hasn't connected a health app yet, or they have connected one but nothing has synced. On iPhone, a client who refused access looks the same as one with no steps, so ask them to check their permissions if nothing arrives.
Set a daily step target
- Open the client's menu and tap 'Manage' followed by their name.
- Under 'Targets', tap 'Step target'. You can also get there from the target button on the Steps screen.
- Type a number between 500 and 100,000, or pick one of the common targets: 6,000, 8,000, 10,000 or 12,000.
- Save. To remove the target, clear the field and save.
The target shows as a line on the steps chart and against each day, for you and your client. If they also use Workout Titan Nutrition, it shows there too, and they can't change it.
Hide steps from a client
Open the client's menu, tap 'Manage' followed by their name, and turn off 'Health data' under Preferences.
- Your client no longer sees steps in their app.
- Their phone keeps syncing, and you still see everything.
- Turn it back on at any time. The Steps screen also shows an 'Enable' button while it's off.
This can suit a client who finds a daily count stressful. You still see their activity in the background.
What steps can and can't tell you
Steps are a rough guide to daily movement outside training. They don't count cycling, swimming or most lifting, and a phone left on a desk counts nothing. The weekly average and the trend tell you more than any single day.
We only store one step total per day. Your client can stop sharing at any time, and the steps already synced stay visible to you.
